Annual IOF-WV Symposia
The annual IOF-WV Symposium is an important part of the overall effort to increase energy efficiency in West Virginia’s energy-intensive industries. The purpose of the Symposium is to bring together West Virginia’s energy-intensive industries with energy experts to learn about the benefits of energy efficiency. More importantly the meeting of industry with experts and researchers provides the forum for the development of cross cutting project ideas and sharing of experiences. Breakout brainstorming meetings are held to assess priority concerns and research needs with the goal of developing R&D projects that will help the industry be more efficient. The ideas from these brainstorming sessions are presented to a general session which is attended not only by West Virginia industry, but also by prominent state and local officials, state economic development experts, university researchers, state and federal agencies, and national laboratories. Therefore, a wide audience hears the concerns and needs of the companies which furthers the opportunities for partnering and solutions.
