Projects with Industry
The Projects with Industry Program provides on-site technical assistance to West Virginia industry. Each semester teams of 5-10 mechanical engineering seniors visit a plant, talk to plant employees and conduct diagnostics to identify a problem in the areas of energy efficiency and/or production efficiency. The student teams develop a solution to the problem, develop a report, present progress reports and get plant personnel feedback and finally present the final report to the plant personnel at the end of the semester. The projects are quite varied and include companies from every major industrial sector in the state such as steel, aluminum, chemical, wood, glass, and manufacturing. The teams will make at least three visits to the company to get the necessary information and familiarity with the project.
